Topic: Are there locked doors in my life or family that prevent Jesus from breathing His Holy Spirit into me? (08 June 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)
First Reading: Genesis 11:1-9 or Exodus 19:3-8a, 16-20b or Ezekiel 37:1-14 or Joel 3:1-5
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 104:1-2, 24, 35, 27-28, 29, 30
Second Reading: Romans 8:22-27
Gospel: John 7:37-39
In this powerful encounter, the Risen Jesus appears to His disciples who are locked up in fear. His first words are not condemnation but peace. He breathes on them and gives the Holy Spirit, commissioning them to go forth and forgive — just as He was sent by the Father. In doing so, Jesus replaces their fear with mission; their confusion with purpose; and their guilt with grace.
This moment is about our commissioning. We are not meant to stay behind locked doors of fear, anger, or regret. Jesus calls us to breathe in His Spirit, be reconciled, and carry His peace and mercy to others.
We aren’t meant to remain behind locked doors. We are forgiven, empowered, and sent.
