TOPIC: DO I CONFORM TO JESUS’ HOLINESS OR TO THE PHARISEES’ HYPOCRISY?

First Reading: Ezekiel 18: 21-28
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 130: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8
Verse Before the Gospel: Ezekiel 18: 31
Gospel: Matthew 5: 20-26

In his Papal General Audience on January 31, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI said: “Holiness does not consist in not making mistakes or never sinning. Holiness grows with the capacity for conversion, repentance, willingness to begin again, and above all with the capacity for reconciliation and forgiveness.”

Brothers and sisters, let this season of Lent be a time for us to respond to Jesus' call for a deeper, more radical righteousness that goes beyond mere external compliance. This righteousness should be rooted in love, reconciliation, forgiveness, and building good relationships with others. Let us fast from anger and resentment, be more generous in offering forgiveness and understanding, and pray for reconciliation with relatives, friends, classmates, co-workers, and neighbors with whom we have had conflict.

This is the 1784th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Harris Jacildo, Sector Leader of CFC Metro Manila South B, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS
