TOPIC: WHAT AM I WILLING TO LOSE MY HEAD FOR?

First Reading: Hebrews 13: 1-8
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 27: 1, 3, 5, 8b-9abc
Alleluia: Luke 8: 15
Gospel: Mark 6: 14-29

Brothers and sisters, are you willing to lose your head for being humble and standing for the truth, or would you rather lose it to feed your pride and ego? The stories of Herod Antipas, King Henry VIII, and Adolf Hitler began with great promise, but pride and its associated sins made them lose their sense of righteousness and decency, thus making them infamous in the eyes of humanity.

In our daily lives, we also tend to give in to pride as we showcase our accomplishments, possessions, or qualities that we consider admirable in hopes of receiving praise. Pride hinders our salvation and damages our relationships with God and others. Instead, let us practice gratefulness for what we have and cultivate humility by simplifying our desires, needs, and wants.

This is the 1748th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Harris Jacildo, Sector Leader of CFC Metro Manila South B, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS
