Topic: Do you trust God when burdens seem impossible to carry? (19 August 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)
First Reading: Judges 6:11-24a
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 85:9, 11-12, 13-14
Alleluia: 2 Corinthians 8:9
Gospel: Matthew 19:23-30
There are times when we try to use all our talents and knowledge, thinking that we should glorify God Whom we serve, to offer Him everything that we have, and to do all that we can. But along the way, in spite of our desires to serve and to glorify Him through our personal witnessing—as a couple, as a family, and as a community—the reality is that we face trials and temptations that cause us to stumble and sometimes, even to question God’s power and faithfulness.
But we should not lose hope and trust in the Lord our God. Pope Francis said, "With God, nothing will be impossible... And if we believe this, we will perform miracles. Nothing is impossible for God."
Sometimes it is good to acknowledge our weaknesses and limitations; then we can turn to God who is all powerful and faithful; He will help us with everything we need. And if we do trust Him and allow Him to give us grace and mercy, we can truly glorify Him!
