What is a True Friend According to the Bible?
In a world where the word friend is often thrown around casually, the Bible calls us to a much deeper standard. A true friend isn’t just someone who laughs at your jokes or likes your photos—they're someone who walks beside you when everyone else walks away. Proverbs 17:17 (NKJV) says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” That means a godly friend sticks by your side through thick and thin—not just when it’s convenient.
Yahshua gave us the ultimate example: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13, NKJV).
A true friend encourages you, prays with you, tells you the truth in love, and draws you closer to Yahweh. Choose these kinds of friends—and be one yourself. That’s what real, biblical friendship looks like.
