Topic: DO I STILL NEED SIGNS TO BELIEVE?

First Reading: Ephesians 3: 14-21

Gospel: Luke 12: 49-53

In the Gospel reading today, Jesus criticized the Jews of His time for not knowing how to interpret the times in which they were living. They shunned and didn't take seriously the presence of God among them in the person of Jesus. They failed to respond to His call to conversion and renewal. They knew how to interpret the signs in nature which suggest the kind of weather that is forthcoming, but they didn't know how to interpret a much more fundamental reality, Jesus right in their midst.
