TOPIC: AM I GRATEFUL IN BEING ABLE TO SERVE GOD?
First Reading: Titus 2: 1-8, 11-14
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 37: 3-4, 18 and 23, 27 and 29
Alleluia: John 14: 23
Gospel: Luke 17: 7-10
In our Gospel today, our Lord Jesus Christ reminds us about the right attitude of being a servant - to be faithful in obeying one's master and to be happy with being able to serve! Jesus telling His disciples to just be faithful servants and to be content with doing the job without even having the right to be thanked by the master may seem harsh to hear at first.
But reflecting on what Jesus said, it reminds us of the attitude that we should have as good and faithful servants ⏤ to just focus on faithfully serving the master, our God, because it is already a gift and privilege to be called to serve God, carrying out any service entrusted to us!
When we serve God, we are the ones who are benefiting, because we are able to journey through faith. When we serve, we go through challenges, experience pains, and acknowledge our limitations which allow us to draw nearer to Him, growing more in faith! When we serve, we grow in loving God and in loving our neighbor. Service brings us closer to heaven!
This is the 1661st installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
