Topic: How much do I value my faith? (1 August 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)

First Reading: Leviticus 23:1, 4-11, 15-16, 27, 34b-37
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 81:3-4, 5-6, 10-11ab
Alleluia: 1 Peter 1:25
Gospel: Matthew 13:54-58

Today's Gospel emphasizes the power of faith and how unbelief can hinder us. It’s encouraging to see that in areas where people believed in Jesus, miracles happened more frequently. Sadly, due to their lack of faith, Jesus couldn't perform many miracles in Nazareth, unlike in other regions where people believed in Him.

Some individuals assign little to no value to faith in the Lord. These are the non-believers who behave as if they control every aspect of their lives. Others value faith very minimally, seeing it as less significant—these are the nominal Catholics. Conversely, there are those who not only hold faith in high regard once they discover it but also actively live according to it.

Today, our Lord prompts us to examine our biases and prejudices. We should remain open to recognizing God's presence and wisdom in everyone, including those close to us and those from modest backgrounds. True faith extends beyond mere intellectual understanding; it requires an openness to the Holy Spirit and a willingness to be transformed by God's grace.
