What Did Jesus Mean When He Said “Let the Dead Bury the Dead”?
In Luke 9:60 and Matthew 8:22, Jesus (Yahshua) told a man, “Let the dead bury their own dead,” after he asked to bury his father first. At first glance, this seems harsh. But Yahshua was revealing a deeper spiritual truth.

The phrase refers to two kinds of "dead"—those physically dead and those spiritually dead. Yahshua was saying: Let those disconnected from God handle earthly concerns. You, however, are called to follow Me now—without delay.

In Jewish culture, “bury my father” often meant waiting years until a parent died. This man was stalling. Yahshua saw through the excuse and reminded him that nothing is more urgent than the call to follow Him.

So, what’s holding you back?
Let the spiritually dead chase worldly things. You’ve been called to life—real life in Yahshua.
Follow Him while there’s still time.
