Philippine Bible Society Celebrates the UBS World Day of Prayer 2020

What is the UBS World Day of Prayer?
May 9 is remembered in the global fellowship of Bible Societies as the founding date of the United Bible Societies. Once a year, the global fellowship meets in prayer, linked invisibly but powerfully, and creates a communion among those who share the same concern and hope.

HOW DID THE WORLD DAY OF PRAYER BEGIN?

1980
One month before the United Bible Societies’ Council meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the governing bodies felt the need to call on the whole Bible Society fellowship to support the meeting through prayers. The global response was overwhelming!

1982
The UBS Task Force on Enablement, the UBS Executive Committee, designated May 9 as a worldwide “Day of Prayer” in the Bible Society fellowship.

May 9, 1983
A day when Bible Society workers and friends were invited to unite in prayer. Since then, the World Day of Prayer has been observed yearly in the Bible Society fellowship.
