“The Jacob Syndrome” (Matthew 26:31-35) Pastor Mel Caparros February 2, 2025 Sunday Service

Jacob was a man who always relied on himself and his manipulative ways, but God continually showed him the folly of relying on his own strength and wisdom. We are often beset by this same syndrome, in that we often rely on our own strength and that has been the reason for our many failures.

The apostles and most especially Peter are here seen falling into the trap of what I will call the “Jacob Syndrome”. The object lesson in this passage is that we need to rely on God continually so that we may live victorious lives.
