Devotional Topic: BELIEVING BEYOND THE IMPOSSIBLE
READ: Romans 4:1-22
Verse of the Day: Romans 4:20-21
Devotional Message:
(Romans 4:20-21)
"Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised."
This verse tells us about Abraham, a man who was given an incredible promise by God. God promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, even though he was old and had no children. Humanly speaking, it seemed impossible. But Abraham chose to believe God’s promise, even when it didn't make sense. He didn't let doubt take over. Instead, his faith grew stronger, and he trusted that God would do exactly what He had promised.
What does this mean for us today? We all face situations that seem impossible. Maybe you’re praying for a breakthrough in your job, healing for a loved one, or guidance in a difficult decision. It’s easy to feel discouraged when things don’t seem to be changing, and the answers don’t come right away.
But like Abraham, we are called to trust God’s promises. God is faithful and powerful. He never goes back on His word. Abraham’s story reminds us that faith isn't about ignoring reality. Instead, it’s about believing in the power of God to change our reality, even when we can't see how.
When we hold on to God’s promises, our faith grows stronger. We begin to see beyond our circumstances and focus on what God can do. Faith is like a muscle; the more we use it, the stronger it becomes. Abraham chose to give glory to God while waiting for the promise to be fulfilled. He praised God for what He would do, even before it happened. This is a powerful example for us.
Today, I encourage you to think about a promise from God that you are holding on to. Maybe it’s something you’ve been praying about for a long time. Don’t give up. Instead, let your faith be strengthened. Keep trusting that God has the power to fulfill His promises in your life. Like Abraham, let’s give glory to God, fully convinced that He is able to do what He has promised.
Prayer:
Lord, strengthen our faith like Abraham's, so we may trust in Your promises without doubt. Help us to give You glory, fully believing that You have the power to do what You have promised. Amen.
