TOPIC: Do I experience God’s faithfulness whenever I obey His will?
First Reading: Numbers 21: 4-9
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 102: 2-3, 16-18, 19-21
Gospel: John 8: 21-30
In our Gospel today, Jesus said to the Jews and Pharisees, “The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him.”. Jesus points out two important messages in this statement—that God is always faithful to those whom He calls, but our obedience to His will is key to experiencing His faithful Presence!
We will always face tasks in our life that will challenge our capacity to perform or carry through. These challenges will come one after the other as long as we live, or as long as we desire to follow our Lord Jesus Christ. But our Lord will also use these trials to draw us closer to Him. He allows these to happen so that we may trust Him more as we obey. We also need to trust that it is actually Him who will accomplish what He asks us to do; we just need to say yes, be there, and do whatever we can and give whatever we have, and He will do the rest!
