Topic: What is my response to Jesus' resurrection? (1 May 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)

First Reading: Acts 5: 27-33
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 34: 2 and 9, 17-18, 19-20
Alleluia: John 20: 29
Gospel: John 3: 31-36

After Jesus rose from the dead, Peter accused the Jews of killing Jesus. And we could be accused of the same crime. Why and how? And what must we do?

When we disregard someone’s identity, it’s like killing their personality. When we kill or disregard God’s identity and the Word of the Father in our lives, we make ourselves orphans for we have become fatherless. And then in our need, we cry to God: "Lord, please help me".

Do we cry for help because we are helpless orphans? But who killed the identity of the Father in the first place, but we ourselves?

Jesus’ resurrection should bring a new resolve to us. We should not only believe the truth of the Word but live it. We must prepare ourselves for our own resurrection and for eternal life.
