Topic: Why would God send lowly fishermen to do a very important mission? And why would God call me to do His work? (10 July 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)

First Reading: Genesis 44: 18-21, 23b-29; 45: 1-5
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 105: 16-17, 18-19, 20-21
Alleluia: Mark 1: 15
Gospel: Matthew 10: 7-15

How easier would the work be if there were many followers and workers of Christ? But as always, many would look back to what they cannot leave behind. Jesus ministered to great crowds but would focus on a few who would be willing to entrust their lives to Him. Jesus mentored them, corrected them, and empowered them to carry out a lasting mission.

God would always look to the committed few, more than to the many who were half-hearted or distracted. Thus, the 12 men who were deeply committed became the foundation of the Church, spreading the Gospel to our time and to the ends of the earth.
