Gospel: Matthew 18: 15-20
The gospel today (Matthew 18: 15-20) highlights the importance of reconciliation, forgiveness, and the power of unity in prayer. Jesus invites us to reach out to those who have sinned against us, to forgive and reconcile. The gospel basically teaches us how to relate to someone who has sinned against us.
The steps involve reaching out to the one who sinned against us in private, bringing witness if necessary, and then finally involving the church community if reconciliation is not achieved.
We can learn from the example of Bart Millard. Bart Millard suffered a lot from his abusive dad but he learned to forgive and reconcile, until the healing he experienced resulted in the dramatic improvement in their relationship.
