TOPIC: DO WE OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN?

First Reading: Acts 5: 27-33
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 34: 2 and 9, 17-18, 19-20
Alleluia: John 20: 29
Gospel: John 3: 31-36

It is appropriate, in this week of Divine Mercy, to reflect again on the abundant grace won by the blood of Christ, making available an unfathomable ocean of mercy for us. Today’s Gospel speaks of the Lord’s abundant love for us. Jesus, “does not ration his gift of the Spirit.” (John 3:34) To ration is to parcel out, to give in limited amounts but God does not limit His gift to us. He gives it all, fully and freely. This limitless love is rooted in the Father: “The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him.” (John 3:35) The Father gives everything to the Son and the Son does not ration what he passes on to us.

How about us? Do we freely share all that has been given to us or do we ration our time, talent and treasure? May our life follow the example of our Lord Jesus and his Apostles – to obey God rather than obey men.

This is the 1438th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Rouquel Ponte, a member of the CFC Board of Elders, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
