In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls us to costly obedience. We are always reminded that discipleship comes with a price tag shaped in the form of a cross. Are we willing to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him? Life typically presents us with a variety of crosses. Some of them are more difficult than the others. However, it is not easy to accept a cross, be that illness, financial challenges, family difficulties, unemployment, depression, etc. However, what may be helpful or detrimental to us is how we view our cross. Do we view it as a burden or punishment? Or do we believe that crosses simply are part of our lives, just as joy, misery and love are part of our human existence?
This is the 1205th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
