TOPIC: ARE WE FULLY DEPENDENT ON THE LORD AS WE FOLLOW HIM?

First Reading: Hosea 11: 1-4, 8c-9
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 80: 2ac and 3b, 15-16
Alleluia: Mark 1: 15
Gospel: Matthew 10: 7-15

The Gospel reminds us that we also share in the mission of the Apostles. However, although we know that we are to be entirely dependent on the Lord and should fully trust him, our human nature fears that following him and being too poor, too dependent seems reckless. We are often reminded that this fear is evidence of our weak faith. Faith tells us that we are not helpless at all because when we have the power of God, there is nothing reckless about trusting him. As we take steps that our nature can tolerate, our faith grows. Faith requires that we take what feels like big risks, so that we can grow in confidence that the Lord truly does meet our needs and care for us.

My dear brothers and sisters, may we imitate the example of today's saint, St. Benedict who followed the way of life as revealed to him. Like him, let us use the power of God’s Word, the strongest and truest foundation to grow in greater faith and full trust in the Lord.

This is the 1535th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Rouquel Ponte, a member of the CFC Board of Elders, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
