In an article published in Aleteia, Mr. Philip Kosloki wrote that St. Pope John Paul II, in his homily in 1999, said that the “the sublime parable which is usually called the prodigal son should be called the merciful father”. St. John Paul II believed that the primary focus of this parable should be the merciful and abundant love of the father and how that same love is extended to us.
A forgiving heart is a grace from God. As we ask the Lord for forgiveness, we also ask Him for the humility to forgive and to embrace those who have wronged us.
