First Reading: Isaiah 65: 17-21
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 30: 2 and 4, 5-6, 11-12a and 13b
Verse Before the Gospel: Amos 5: 14
Gospel: John 4: 43-54
Today's gospel in John 4:43-54 tells the story of a royal official whose son was ill in Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee, he went to Jesus and asked him to heal his son, who was near death.
Jesus was not impressed by faith based on the extraordinary or unusual. Instead, he looked for faith based on his word, for people who took him at his word and BELIEVED in his word. This was the faith that the royal official displayed.
In our prayer time today, let us pray that, like Helen Keller and the royal official who truly "BELIEVED," we will live our lives BELIEVING in Jesus' words even if we have not seen the outcome yet.
This is the 1414th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Eric Villanueva, Mission Head for CFC Europe and the Americas, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
