Jesus isn’t telling us to love our families less. He’s calling us to love Him first so that we can love our families in the right way. When we put God first, our love becomes stronger, more rooted, and more truthful. It’s no longer driven by emotion or fear of conflict, it’s driven by eternal values.
And that kind of love sometimes requires saying “no.” It may look like rejection, but in truth, it’s an act of deep care. Because real love doesn’t avoid the hard stuff. It carries the cross. Just like Jesus did.
