TOPIC: ARE YOU A SOURCE OF UNCERTAINTY AND INTRIGUE?
First Reading: Deuteronomy 30: 15-20

Jesus’ disciples were criticized by the disciples of John the Baptist as not fasting the way they and the Pharisees did. John the Baptist was a more austere man than Jesus. The Lord once referred to him as one who had come eating no bread and drinking no wine (as his common diet is locusts and honey), and to Himself as the Son of Man who came eating and drinking.
Jesus wanted John’s disciples, along with His own disciples, to realize that while He was with them, it was a time of joy. It was not a time of mourning or fasting or weeping. With Jesus’ presence in our lives, we celebrate His victories and embrace His message for us to love as He loved.
