TOPIC: DO I TRUST IN GOD’S CAPACITY AND FAITHFULNESS TO CONTINUE UNDERGO TRANSFORMATION IN MY LIFE?
First Reading: Genesis 49: 2, 8-10
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 72: 1-2, 3-4ab, 7-8, 17
Gospel: Matthew 1: 1-17
In our Gospel today, we are reminded of the genealogy of Jesus. We saw from the lineage of His family different personalities who are not perfect, sinners. But we saw God’s power in the fact that our Lord can use an imperfect clan as a vessel of God’s salvation for mankind, eventually bringing forth our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Just like we who desire to continuously follow our Lord Jesus Christ, we can say that we all have challenging beginnings, may it be in our family who have struggled in the past or may it pertain to us personally who went through dark moments because of sinful choices or bad decisions. It doesn’t mean that there is nothing good that can come out of us or that we can’t do anything good at all.
This is the 1696th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
