First Reading: Exodus 1: 8-14, 22
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 124: 1b-3, 4-6, 7-8
Alleluia: Matthew 5: 10
Gospel: Matthew 10: 34 – 11: 1

In Matthew 10:34 to 11:1, Jesus told His apostles not to think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth, I have come to bring not peace but the sword, for I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me.”

The Pope pointed out that Jesus was not trying to discount love for one's parents but rather having Jesus as the pinnacle, the guiding compass of our lives. We will, in fact, honor and love our parents because God is the source of love and life for all of humanity. Therefore, the focus of our worship is not our parents or any other human being, but rather the true author of life, which is God.

This is the 1190th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Eric Villanueva, CFC Europe & Africa Missions Head, as he brings us today's reflection.]

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
