TOPIC: DO I TRUST IN GOD’S HEART THAT IS FULL OF COMPASSION, FAITHFUL, AND TRUE?

First Reading: Genesis 6: 5-8; 7: 1-5, 10
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 29: 1a and 2, 3ac-4, 3b and 9c-10
Alleluia: John 14: 23
Gospel: Mark 8: 14-21

In our Gospel today, our Lord Jesus Christ addressed His disciples’ lack of understanding about His message to guard themselves against the leaven of the Pharisees and of Herod. Confused, they had been focused on their failure to bring bread on their trip that day.

At times, we go through the same thing, when we focus on ourselves—on our mistakes, failures, and lapses, missing the point of God’s message. When we dwell on weaknesses and failures, we lose sight of God’s faithfulness. We tend to forget how He had saved us many times in the past. We forget how powerful He is that He is able to work miracles in our lives—ones we had never even imagined possible.

This is the 1759th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
