Gospel: John 16: 16-20
We continue to reflect in today's Gospel reading the farewell discourse of our Lord during the Last Supper. Jesus was preparing his disciples for the events of his passion and death on the cross, but they could not fully comprehend the message because they had their agenda on how God was to accomplish His saving mission. The words, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices, you will grieve, but your grief will become joy” (John 16:20), these troubled them because they just simply wanted the joy of Easter Sunday but not go through the pain, agony, and death of Good Friday and the fear and uncertainty of Holy Saturday.
But, God has the best plan for our lives. We just need to be still, listen, then go and enjoy every moment in our walk with the Lord. As we await the coming celebration of Pentecost, may we seek the Spiritual fruits to help us understand God’s plan for our growing in holiness and discipleship.
This is the 1131st installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Rouquel Ponte, a member of the Board of Elders, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
