Topic: HAS MY HEART BEEN FORMED TO BE MISSION-READY?

First Reading: Second Timothy 4: 10-17b
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 145: 10-11, 12-13, 17-18
Alleluia: John 15: 16
Gospel: Luke 10: 1-9

One would imagine that before being sent on a mission, Jesus would brief, orient, and give powerful words of encouragement to the disciples to stir up their spirits and fill them with a sense of joy and hope for the mission ahead. But Jesus does otherwise. He explicitly says, "harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few". He further warns them, "Go on your way! I am sending you out like lambs in the midst of wolves! Carry no money bag, no sandals".

In our featured story, the Israeli commandos sent on the rescue mission probably did not have the words of encouragement and motivation either, but their minds and hearts were driven by their desire to save lives. They set out on the mission, even at the risk of their own safety, even at the thought that they might never see their loved ones again.

This is the 1636th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Jess Ferrer as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
