TOPIC: WHAT HAVE I SUFFERED FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST AND THE MISSION?
First Reading: Judges 13: 2-7, 24-25a
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 71: 3-4a, 5-6ab, 16-17
Gospel: Luke 1: 5-25
What have we suffered for the mission? We have probably given up many things comfortably: a little time, a little sacrifice, a little money ⏤ giving them in our comfortable ways. "Too little" ⏤ because that is how we look at ourselves. Too little, because that is how we look at Christ and the mission ⏤ so negligible.
But know that we are important to God. So that even if God had to become a vulnerable infant, and the King came to be a servant to us, Jesus came because we are important ⏤ we are big, we are not negligible. And yet, we give back too little!
As Jesus comes again majestically, may our giving be likewise majestic. May our mission to witness be powerful. May our "wombs" not become tombs of unspent time, talents and treasures. Mary accepted the mission because we are important to her and to God. Jesus had to come uncomfortably because we are important to Him. What about us, what have we suffered for the mission?
