"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." This 3,000-year-old law referenced in the Old Testament, speaks about retaliation. However, here comes Jesus introducing something radical that challenged this very law!
Love. Mercy. Compassion. More than the law, Jesus wanted the people to relate in love. Is it easy to do? No, definitely not. But that is what makes Jesus so radical. He doesn't want us to take the easy way out. He speaks about the narrow road, the eye of a needle, both seemingly impossible to pass through. But by God's grace, by Jesus' wounds, and by the power that comes from the Spirit, it is love that will move us to follow God.
This is the 1163rd installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Eric Villanueva, CFC Europe & Africa Missions Head, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
