TOPIC: DO YOU FIND YOURSELF CRAVING FOR THE PRAISES OF MEN RATHER THAN GOD?

First Reading: Second Kings 2: 1, 6-14
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 31: 20, 21, 24
Alleluia: John 14: 23
Gospel: Matthew 6: 1-6, 16-18

Jesus teaches us the importance of charitable giving, praying, and fasting and how the principle of having our righteousness rewarded by God and not by people shows us the way to the kingdom of heaven. These teachings pose some challenges when applied to twenty-first century life.

Christ declares three times that hypocrites who act before others have already received their reward. Our eternal destiny will depend upon the outcome of that moment. May we not discover that our hands are empty because we have secretly acted to win the applause of men.

This is the 1514th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Raymond Bucu, South Asia Regional Coordinator and Provincial Area Head of Bataan, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
