Topic: What has God shown me that I may have forgotten? (19 May 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)
One of the things usually associated with age is memory loss. Being forgetful doesn’t pick any age; it happens to everyone occasionally, no matter how old or young you are. Today’s Gospel is an excellent reminder of that.
Jesus talked to His disciples about how the Holy Spirit will remind them of His teachings. The disciples, who literally walked with Jesus, forgot His powerful moments too when Jesus was arrested and everything felt like it was falling apart. Jesus saw it coming, which is why He promised: "The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you."
The Spirit brings those things back when we need them the most. You’re not starting over. You’re just remembering what has always been there.
