First Reading: Isaiah 7: 10-14
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 24: 1-2, 3-4ab, 5-6
Gospel: Luke 1: 26-38

How does Mary respond to the word of God delivered by the angel Gabriel? What she heard that will occur should surpass all miracles performed by God in the past and was obviously beyond human capacity to fully understand. But notice how her question, “How shall this be, since I have no husband?” is not prompted by doubt or skepticism, but by amazement! Her being filled with grace makes her a true hearer of the Word. She immediately responds with faith and trust, believing in God's promises even when they seemed impossible. She gave her fiat to God's will, even if it seemed difficult or costly.

In the Nicene Creed we declare the following; “For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven and by the power of the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man”. May this become a confession of faith for all of us, that as God gives us the grace, He expects us to respond with the same willingness, obedience, and heart-felt trust.

This is the 1336th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Raymond Bucu, Head of Gateway Evangelization, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
