TOPIC: DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO ACCEPT GOD'S TRUTH?

First Reading: Daniel 3: 14-20, 91-92, 95
Responsorial Psalm: Daniel 3: 52, 53, 54, 55, 56
Verse Before the Gospel: Luke 8: 15
Gospel: John 8: 31-42

In today's Gospel reading we find a dialog that resembles a courtroom deliberation over Jesus’ identity and on what He deems to be necessary for people to become truly free. The tension increases as Jesus takes the divine name as His own and tells His audience how estranged they are from God and their Abrahamic ancestry.

Jesus says that remaining in Him is the true measure of discipleship. It is the path to truth and freedom. This “truth” does not just refer to the opposite of falsehood; it is knowledge of God as revealed in Jesus. Knowing this “truth” is knowing God, made present in Jesus, who is “the way, and the truth, and the life” Jesus makes this clear when he substitutes “the Son” for “the truth,” saying effectively that the Son sets people free.

This is the 1423rd installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Raymond Bucu, South Asia Regional Coordinator and Provincial Area Head of Bataan, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
