Gospel: John 6: 1-15
In today’s Gospel, The Feeding of the Five Thousand reminds us of Jesus’ compassion for His people. Jesus performed a miracle. However, there was in this gospel account a minor and seemingly insignificant character, the boy with some loaves and a couple of fish who was generous enough to share. His story teaches us many things. No one in the crowd would have thought that this boy will play an important role. No one would have imagined that what he was carrying in his little basket would not only feed the multitude, but the basis of one of the most significant miracles Jesus ever performed.
Jesus reminds us to learn to open our hearts for there is an abundance of blessings for all. The Lord knows how He can best use us. We must be prepared always, so that in our littleness, nothingness and limitations, God can step in and use us to be a powerful blessing to others and be part of a big miracle that can change the world. That’s just how the Lord works!
