TOPIC: HOW FIRM IS MY FAITH IN OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST?
First Reading: First Peter 5: 1-4
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 23: 1-3a, 4, 5, 6
Alleluia: Matthew 16: 18
Gospel: Matthew 16: 13-19
Jesus' statement, “Upon this rock I will build my Church" is interpreted by Catholics as a reference to Peter, signifying his role as the foundation of the Church due to his unwavering faith.
To call someone a "rock" is one of the greatest of compliments. The ancient rabbis had a saying that when God saw Abraham, he exclaimed: "I have discovered a rock to found the world upon." Abraham put his trust in God and made God's word the foundation of his life and the bedrock of his faith.
Faith in Jesus Christ turns us into rocks ⏤ spiritual stones. The Lord Jesus tests each of us personally with the same question: Who do you say that I am?
This is the 1764th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Solphie Confiado, Country Coordinator for CFC Egypt, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
