TOPIC: DO WE HONOR GOD IN OUR PRAYER?

First Reading: Second Corinthians 11: 1-11
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 111: 1b-2, 3-4, 7-8

Gospel: Matthew 6: 7-15

Last Sunday, we joined in the celebration of Father’s Day. I would like to honor my own father who I believe was like St. Joseph in many ways. Not the perfect father but we all knew that He loved us, his children with the best gift he could give – himself. We could count on his word, he was there whenever we needed him and most of all – his focus was on our mother and his children.

As Jesus taught his disciples how to pray, may our prayer honor God, make a promise to do His will, and strive to help prepare the way for the coming of His kingdom. May we sing in our hearts the refrain in one song: “Make ready your heart, make ready your home, make ready the people of God. Prepare the way.”

Today, let us fervently pray to honor God the Father, St. Joseph and our own earthly father the prayer that Jesus taught us.
