TOPIC: DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH ENVY?

First Reading: Jeremiah 20: 10-13
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 18: 2-3a, 3bc-4, 5-6, 7
Verse Before the Gospel: John 6: 63c, 68c
Gospel: John 10: 31-42
Lectionary: 255

In today’s Gospel reading we see that each day the Jews’ fear of Jesus kept escalating. They recognized that Jesus’ popularity with the people continued to grow. They were becoming frightened of Jesus and His influence with the people. No matter how the Jewish officials tried to discredit Jesus with the people, they would not listen to them. Rather the number of people who gathered to listen to Jesus increased every day.

Do we become jealous, envious or angry when someone appears to have more power or influence than we have? Does our fear ever drive us to do something that we normally would not do? If we are unaware of our emotions, these negative and destructive emotions may begin to rule our lives and cause us to act in a way we would not normally do. Could this be the reason why the attitude of the Pharisees was such?

This is the 1425th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Jess Ferrer, Head of the CFC Migrants Program, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
