First Reading: Isaiah 45: 1, 4-6
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 96: 1, 3, 4-5, 7-8, 9-10
Second Reading: First Thessalonians 1: 1-5b
Alleluia: Philippians 2: 15d, 16a
Gospel: Matthew 22: 15-21

The gospel was about an encounter between Jesus and the Pharisees who were trying to trap him with a question about paying taxes to the Roman authorities: “Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?"

As Christians we cannot cut ourselves off from the affairs of the world, but we should never compromise our beliefs and values. Despite pressures to conform, we are invited to remain steadfast in our faith and principles, choosing to give what belongs to God, just like how Saint Thomas More lived his life.

This is the 1276th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.

[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Israel Silud, as he brings us today's reflection.

All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
