We are likely to pray harder when we are going through problematic situations ahead of us. Today’s Gospel focuses on a portion of Jesus’ prayer immediately before His betrayal and crucifixion.
As we compare what Jesus prayed for and what we pray for during our problematic situations, we notice a difference. For us, we normally pray for the prevention of what we dread from happening. In Jesus’ case, He prayed for Himself and His disciples’ well-being for the glory of God Himself.
The latter is a good reminder for us that while we should have faith in God and in God’s power to help us address our concerns by our praying hard for them. We should also offer our predicament for God’s purpose so that He can convert the situation to manifest God’s goodness and greatness and glory.
