First Reading: Acts 4: 1-12
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 118: 1-2 and 4, 22-24, 25-27a
Alleluia: Psalms 118: 24
Gospel: John 21: 1-14
Breakfast, for most people, is the first meal of the day. However for His disciples, who had been fishing all night—a common practice for fishermen—Jesus' breakfast was actually their last meal before they rested their tired bodies before they went out to sea again the following night.
The significance of this is that Jesus’ choice to share a meal, whether it is the first or last of the day, demonstrates His continuing and never-ending presence and spiritual guidance in everyone’s lives.
When Jesus prepared breakfast for His disciples after a long night of labor, He showed them His care for their physical needs. More importantly, He gave them spiritual nourishment and fellowship, reaffirming His love and commitment to them.
