TOPIC: IS GIVING MY BEST AND MY ALL TO GOD, MY ONLY DESIRE AS I SERVE?
First Reading: Sirach 2: 1-11
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 37: 3-4, 18-19, 27-28, 39-40
Alleluia: Galatians 6: 14
Gospel: Mark 9: 30-37
In our Gospel today, as the disciples discussed who was the greatest among them, our Lord Jesus Christ said: “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.”.
St. Thérèse of Lisieux beautifully reminds us, “Holiness consists simply in doing God’s will, and being just what God wants us to be.” For us who have experienced God’s great love, who have been transformed into better persons, experienced healing, and many more, we are naturally moved to serve Him as a response to His greatness in our lives. Let us focus on just loving Him and serving Him, let us desire to give Him our best—and not make it about us.
This is the 1768th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
