TOPIC: DO YOU BELIEVE THAT JESUS HAS PREPARED A DWELLING PLACE FOR YOU IN HEAVEN?
First Reading: Acts 13: 26-33
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 2: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11ab
Alleluia: John 14: 6
Gospel: John 14: 1-6
Jesus senses that the disciples are troubled and fearful. He calls on them to trust in God and to trust in Himself. Jesus goes on to explain why this trust in God is appropriate. Although Jesus is going away and leaving them, He promises to return to them, to come again and to take them to the Father's house with its many dwelling places.
Jesus further assures the disciples that where He is going is where He will bring all who trust in Him when they come to the end of their earthly lives. These words of Jesus to His disciples on the night before His own death give hope and comfort to us all as we face a similar situation. He encourages us to replace the anxieties and confusion in our hearts with a simple but absolute belief in Him. His promises give meaning and purpose to our lives, greater and higher than anyone or anything else can offer. His promises are absolutely real and true.
