Jesus criticizes his contemporaries for not knowing how to interpret the times in which they were living but were instead well-versed in interpreting the signs in nature which suggest the kind of weather that will prevail on that day. Sadly, they do not know how to interpret a much more fundamental reality, which is Jesus’ presence in their midst. They seriously have taken for granted the presence of God among them in the person of Jesus and therefore fell short to respond to his call to conversion and renewal.
Further, today’s reading calls on all of us to interpret the signs of the Lord’s presence in our lives, and to discern what the Lord is asking of us and calling us to do. He has a purpose for our lives and there is always an urgency about that purpose. The Lord looks for our response in the here and now. We need to be alert, ready and keen, in response to that sense of urgency that the Lord feels in our regard.
This is the 1281st installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings.
[NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Jess Ferrer, Head of Migrants Program, as he brings us today's reflection.
All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives. This video is also available on Couples for Christ’s Facebook page. In You Tube, just type ONLY BY GRACE REFLECTIONS]
