TOPIC: DO WE STAND UP FOR GOD'S TRUTH?
First Reading: First Corinthians 1: 1-9
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 145: 2-3, 4-5, 6-7

Gospel: Mark 6: 17-29
My dear brothers and sisters, there is freedom in knowing and telling the truth about who and what we are. According to Pope Francis, we are the Lord's missionary disciples.
Our true identity is to be a child of God, and our purpose for being is to be sent to proclaim the good news of salvation, even if this becomes a risky
proposition. Let us believe the words of our Lord Jesus when he said:
"The truth will set you free." (John 8:32)
St. John the Baptist lived in true freedom. He is the model we ought to honor and strive to imitate today. He reminds us that we do not need to fear the truth or the opposition of anyone. When we rely on the Lord, we have the strength to persevere in love and in truth. As St. Paul teaches us: "He will keep you firm to the end, irreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."
