Topic: Do I scroll for likes that fade so fast, or seek God’s treasure that forever lasts? (3 August 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)
First Reading: Ecclesiastes 1: 2; 2: 21-23
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 90: 3-4, 5-6, 12-13, 14 and 17
Second Reading: Colossians 3: 1-5, 9-11
Alleluia: Matthew 5: 3
Gospel: Luke 12: 13-21
In today’s Gospel, Luke 12:13-21, Jesus invites us to “Choose God’s treasure that forever lasts, not ‘fading likes’ that vanish fast.” Jesus warns us not to live for what fades, but for what lasts.
The rich man stored up wealth, thinking it secured his future—but God called him a fool: “This very night your life will be demanded of you.” In a world trading likes for self-worth, we risk chasing what disappears. But Jesus calls us higher: “Choose God’s treasure that forever lasts, not ‘fading likes’ that vanish fast.”
