3 Things Christians Should Stop Saying
"God won’t give you more than you can handle."
This phrase misinterprets 1 Corinthians 10:13. God allows challenges that often exceed our strength so we rely on His power, not our own. He promises His presence, not a stress-free life.
"Everything happens for a reason."
While God can bring good from any situation, not every tragedy or hardship comes directly from Him. Instead of oversimplifying pain, focus on offering empathy and pointing to God’s redemptive work.
"I’ll pray for you" (with no follow-through).
This phrase becomes empty if not backed by action. If you say it, commit to genuinely praying or offering tangible help. Better yet, pray with the person in the moment.
Words matter. Let’s ensure they reflect God’s truth and love, avoiding clichés that may hurt or mislead. Speak life, not empty phrases, as we strive to live out our faith authentically.
