Topic: ARE YOU PREPARED FOR JESUS UNEXPECTED COMING?
First Reading: First Corinthians 1: 17-25

Gospel: Matthew 25: 1-13
The Gospel reading for today invites us to consistently fill our lamps with oil and, without fail, to be ready for the coming of the Lord. He appears in moments and ways we least expect. The foolish virgins failed to anticipate
when and how the Lord would come to them; they were not prepared. So often, we, too, get caught up in so many affairs, challenges, and worries in life that we can miss what is truly essential. We do not recognize and miss the presence of Christ in the people around us and the circumstances surrounding us. Sometimes, Christ comes to us through illness, sacrifice, or suffering, and we do not see Him fully and reject Him.
Many times, we are warned in the New Testament as Jesus makes it clear that there is a real possibility that some people, due to their own choices, may not be saved. The most dreadful phrase from Jesus is, "I do not know you." The Lord takes our freedom to choose seriously. Nevertheless, He never imposes Himself on us. Rather, He invites us to make a free response of love and obedience to Him and the way of life He exemplified. We must choose to remain faithful to the Christian way of life. God is unable to save us without our unwavering cooperation.
