Topic: Why do I follow Jesus? (30 June 2025 - Only By Grace Reflections)

First Reading: Genesis 18:16-33
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 103:1b-2, 3-4, 8-9, 10-11
Alleluia: Psalm 95:8
Gospel: Matthew 8:18-22

Jesus wanted to be clear: following Him means sacrifice. It means discomfort. It might even mean having no place to lay your head. It’s a reminder for all of us to check our own hearts.

Why do we follow Jesus? Is it because of the blessings? The peace? The answered prayers? Or is it because we’ve come to know and believe that He is Lord, that He is worthy of our trust, our love, and even our sacrifice?

True love doesn’t follow because of what it gets, it follows because of who we are following. Following Jesus means saying yes even when it’s uncomfortable, even when it costs something. But the reward? A deep, unshakeable joy, and a love that never lets you go.
