Jesus reveals the boundless mercy of God through the story of a father and his two sons. The younger son, blinded by selfish de-sires, demands his inheritance and wastes it on reckless living. When famine strikes, he finds himself suffering and alone. In desperation, he humbles himself and returns home, ready to beg for his father’s forgiveness.
Instead of punishing him, the father runs to embrace him with overwhelming love, restoring him as his son. However, the older brother, who remained obedient, resents this mercy, feeling overlooked. The father gently reminds him that love is not about merit but about rejoicing over the return of the lost.
